Mining Eye are a company consisting of individuals passionate about local mining. They are dedicated to providing the very best level of service by exploring, surveying, mapping and researching Cornwall's mining remains, adding to the huge archive of historic maps and plans, continuing many years of experience and research in the field, coupled with specialist qualifications in all the relevant disciplines. 


Key staff:

Stuart Dann BSc (Hons). RSC. FGS.

Stuart began his career as a copper chemist, trained as a teacher and taught Chemistry, Geology and Environmental Science for 5 years. Following this, moved back into a mining laboratory, undertook various analyses and metallurgical treatments for local and international mining projects. Since then, he has worked with the local drilling contractors and mining consultancies performing mining investigations. In his spare time, Stuart likes to research and explore abandoned mines to investigate their condition, layout and remains. He has currently explored nearly 200 local mines.

Tom Thomson BSc (Hons). MSc. FGS. FLS.

Tom is an analytical scientist and specialist in geological, topographic and spatial data mapping and data synthesis technology. As a consultant Tom's clients have included among others, the University of Plymouth and the Natural History Museum in London as well as on regional initiatives such as the Tamar Valley Mining Heritage Project. He is equally at home in the field, in a laboratory or behind a computer, with a large volume of experience in on the ground site survey of all types of  geology, mining features, soil and water chemistry, ecological impact of sites and the engineering capacity of contaminated land.
